Description
These chopsticks are carved from solid nephrite jade, selected for durability, smooth feel, and rich color. Each piece is hand-polished to a silky finish, revealing subtle natural veining. We use only high-grade material (no resin or veneer) to ensure authenticity.
Geology of Nephrite Jade
Nephrite jade is a tough, fibrous variety of the amphibole mineral actinolite–tremolite. Unlike jadeite, which is granular, nephrite has an interlocking fibrous structure that makes it exceptionally tough — prized for carving tools and ceremonial objects for thousands of years. It forms in metamorphic environments, where intense heat and pressure alter serpentinite rocks, creating the dense, green-to-cream colored masses. Nephrite deposits are found worldwide, but notable sources include China, Canada (British Columbia), New Zealand, Russia, and Wyoming (USA). Its hardness (6–6.5 on the Mohs scale) combined with this unique fibrous texture is why nephrite jade has been called “the toughest natural stone.”

Care Instructions & Durability Tips

Do not subject to extreme temperature changes (e.g. boiling, freezing)
-
Handle carefully—jade is strong but brittle; avoid dropping or banging
-
Store in a soft pouch or lined box to protect from chipping
Limitations & Considerations
-
Because jade is natural, slight variation in color, veining, or texture is expected and adds character
-
While durable, jade chopsticks are more fragile than metal or wood — be mindful during cleaning, stacking, or transport
