This beautifully polished Sodalite Point presents a serene canvas of royal blue tones streaked with dynamic white veins, forming an elegant taper that enhances its visual depth—perfect as both a display accent and creative spark.
Geological Insights
Sodalite is a tectosilicate feldspathoid mineral, naturally forming in sodium-rich igneous environments like nepheline syenites. It tends to grow alongside minerals such as feldspar and calcite. Its distinguished deep blue hue arises from specific trace elements such as sulfur and chlorine, with white veining frequently resulting from calcite inclusions.
Notable Localities
First discovered in 1811 in Greenland, Sodalite gained wider popularity when high-quality deposits were found in Ontario, Canada around 1891. A well-known locality remains the Princess Sodalite Mine near Bancroft, Ontario, noted for its calcite vein dikes within nepheline gneiss that yield vivid Sodalite specimens.
Additional significant sources include Brazil, Russia, Namibia, Bolivia, Portugal, Tanzania, Australia, and China.
