Origin & Geology
Lepidolite is a lithium-rich mica mineral (K(Li,Al)3(Si,Al)4O10(F,OH)2) that forms in granitic pegmatites—coarse-grained igneous rocks that crystallize from magma enriched in rare elements. The presence of lithium and other alkali metals in the residual melt leads to the formation of Lepidolite. Notable occurrences of Lepidolite have been documented worldwide, including in Minas Gerais, Brazil; Manitoba, Canada; Honshu, Japan; and various locations across the United States, such as California, Maine, and New Mexico .
